Jawahar Customs aiming to make things a lot easier for ex-im trade |

hile the Jawaharlal Nehru Custom House (JNCH) has implemented a number of trade facilitation measures, it is keen on introducing even more to make things easier for the country's international trade, emphasised Mr N. He was addressing an Open House meeting with the trade, organised by the Bombay Custom House Agents' Association (BCHAA) at the Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (MCCIA) premises in Mumbai.
Present on the occasion were Mr R. Radhakrishnan, President of BCHAA, Mr Sanjeev Behari, Commissioner of Customs (Imports), Additional Commissioners Mr Mathew Jolly, Mr Manish Kumar and Mr Srinivasan, BCHAA Senior Vice-President, Mr Omprakash Agrawal, and MCCIA Vice- President, Mr Ashish Pednekar, including BCHAA members and representatives from the maritime, logistics and ex-im trade.
The facilitation measures introduced by JNCH for imports, exports, and reduction of dwell time are as follows (see boxes).

Facility to reply online on queries raised by the Department during B/E assessment Second shift for Customs examination and clearance Part delivery of containers 24 hours after arrival of first container in CFS Daily Movement Register (DMR) at import docks discontinued Holiday posting of staff for urgent work including Saturdays, Sundays JNCH Import Noting Department and Bond Department functional on all Saturdays to facilitate SMTP movement and Ex-bond clearance Website www.jawaharcustoms.gov.in gives full updated information Manual out of charge permitted for delivery of the goods incase of EDI system failure Touch screen kiosks IPR cell has been set up to handle all cases relating to IPR violations Value-added service introduced for informing the importers by e-mail the status of Bills of Entry filed by them 24x7 service available in Boarding office, container scanning division and clearance of cargo into and out of Port and CFSs
